I must say, Croatia was never on my list of places to visit while in Europe. Honestly, I didn’t even know the place existed. It has become one of our favorite travel destinations. Bavaria tops our list next to Croatia. While Brok was gone we were able to take a trip through ITT ( the base travel agency) for $26 each. That price is a steal! Some friends were going so we were really excited about the trip. The only downfall was that we had to be on base at 3:30 AM. Whaaaatttt?! The kids have lots of energy at 3:30 AM. I wasn’t surprised. We stopped for some brioche and coffee before crossing the border into Croatia.
We took a bus to Porec. We were able to walk around for about 30 minutes before boarding the boat. Our tour guide took us around some ruins in Porec. The kids got to lay in a real coffin. I opted out of this experience.
After a short tour around Porec, we boarded a boat for Vrsar. Our group had the boat to ourselves which was very nice. My friend Melanie brought the adults juice boxes and off we went!
At our stop in Porec, we were able to swim for about an hour. The beaches are rocky here. I wish I had taken a picture because the rocks are just simply beautiful!
Back on the boat we went, where we were served lunch of fresh caught fish. It was delicious! Our next stop was Rovinj. This town is absolutely gorgeous.
We had a long boat ride back to Porec but no one took this opportunity to take a nap. Before heading back to Aviano, we ate dinner. We had a traditional Croatian meal called, Cevapcici. It’s like a grilled sausage type thing… I don’t know but it is amazing. We stopped and grabbed a few souvenirs before heading back. How cute is this little guy!?
We made it home around midnight. It was a long day but so worth it!
Ciao for now!
